East Village, EC2 | East London
I went to Netsky's album launch at East Village this evening. Having never heard him DJ before I wasn't sure what to expect. It's safe to say that I wasn't disappointed, especially as he dropped a handful of heavy tracks from his new album.
I even managed to get a portrait of Netsky himself. Reach for the lasers, safe as fuck!
Drum & Bass heads brace yourselves - Netsky dropped his debut album and it's shit hot!
Over the past year he's had a few tracks flying about, most notably Memory Lane on Hospital Record's compilation album Sick Music 2. It had me feeling Netsky could be good but this album has convinced me without a doubt. Netsky is fucking brilliant!
I look forward to skanking out to a number of these tracks in clubs over the summer.

Plan B has always kept me on my toes with his music. His 'Paint It Blacker' bootleg album was the best I had heard in awhile. He managed to take elements of UK hip hop that I love and combine it with guitar based music - The Rolling Stones, Nirvana and Leonard Cohen to name a few. He also manages to break through the glorious drum & bass scene by collaborating with the almighty Chase & Status - 'Pieces' was a fucking tune.
Plan B is to drop his new album, 'Defamation of Strickland Banks' in March. Until then, he's dropped it's first single, 'Stay Too Long'.
Despite bloggers and folks muttering 'sell-out' in an attempt to go mainstream, it's a track worthy of a pat on the back. Especially as he hasn't lost the hype that is so common in his music. Mr B, I anticipate your album!
