Everyone seems to know the score, they've seen it all before
They just know, they're so sure
That England's gonna throw it away, gonna blow it away
But I know they can play,
'Cause I remember...

Two little things that I love about summer time - the smell of freshly cut grass and seeing bees clumsily jump from flower to flower.

I went to Netsky's album launch at East Village this evening. Having never heard him DJ before I wasn't sure what to expect. It's safe to say that I wasn't disappointed, especially as he dropped a handful of heavy tracks from his new album.
I even managed to get a portrait of Netsky himself. Reach for the lasers, safe as fuck!

This isn't exactly new but M.I.A's Born Free music video has been playing on my mind for a while.
I watched this 9-minute video a few weeks ago and it has gradually made me feel uneasy about myself.
It struck me how blasé our society is with the slaughtering of people as long the landscape it takes place in isn’t familiar to us. Perhaps it’s because we have become desensitised to the genocide of people depicted as 'the others'? From the mass murders in Burma to Darfur, from Rwanda to Palestine - It’s almost as if it has become acceptable, the norm. However, when put in a context we identify, ‘the others’ become people we empathise with and provokes us think. – How the fuck can we allow this to happen?
Suddenly everything I do has become insignificant, especially this blog. Hmm… I have some thinking to do.
UPDATE: I should have mentioned that it gets very graphic towards the end. Although I recommend it's watched in its entirety because it's nicely directed and has an interesting plot.
Paddington, W2 | West LondonI took a wrong turn whilst cycling home and stumbled across a couple of pretty signs and sights.
Drum & Bass heads brace yourselves - Netsky dropped his debut album and it's shit hot!
Over the past year he's had a few tracks flying about, most notably Memory Lane on Hospital Record's compilation album Sick Music 2. It had me feeling Netsky could be good but this album has convinced me without a doubt. Netsky is fucking brilliant!
I look forward to skanking out to a number of these tracks in clubs over the summer.
